My wife has always enjoyed puzzles, but even more so since the beginning of COVID-19 in 2020. In May of 2020 my wife began to get sick, not with COVID but not anything they could diagnose. By April of 2021 after a wide variety of doctors and a hospital stay, we finally got a diagnosis of Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) with Non-Epileptic Seizures. The seizures meant she could not be alone, and I became her full-time caregiver. When my wife was no longer working she became interested in Artificial Intelligence (AI) artwork creation. She started creating thousands of pictures so we decided something fun should come of them. Hence Jigsaw Puzzle Studios, an outlet to merge two things we enjoy…puzzles and making art.

Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) is the most common neurological disorder you have never heard of.  It is the second most common reason a patient goes to a neurologist behind migraines. FND occurs when the brain and body do not communicate properly. Also, FND mostly affects women, but can affect men, teens and even children. Symptoms vary by person which makes this disorder so hard to diagnose. Common symptoms include non-epileptic seizures, tremors and twitches, extreme pain throughout the body, difficulty walking, difficulty breathing, migraines and more. FND is not terminal, but it is chronic.  She will have it for the rest of her life. FND can have times when it is worse, or there could be periods of remission it is hard to know.
